BECAUSE I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT TO MOVE.

Kinja'd!!!

We are allowed ONE vehicle per adult driver in our residence, per the lease we signed. Apparently our neighbors either don't give a fuck, or have a different lease grandfathered in by the previous owner of the property (our neighbor's friend). So they have Mom, and two sons driving vehicles.

Parked on MY side of the driveway is my wife's CX-9, and my loaner 3.

Parked on their side this morning is the oldest son's #twowheelsbad, his lifted ZJ, and the youngest son's L200. Out on the street, parked in the middle of the space between our house and the house next door is Mom's van. There's no room to park in front of it, and only enough room behind it to park one car. Next door across the driveway is ANOTHER of the oldest son's acquisitions, a 1st gen RAV-4 with a big ass bike rack hanging off the back. Then the Westerly neighbor (I'm guessing here, I've never seen the car before) has a Protege parked in front of the RAV-4.

So when I go to leave this morning, I have to back the wife's CX-9 out, then my car, and pull her's back in. But there's NOWHERE for me to put my car without having to walk 100 feet. I'm lazy, okay??

Anyways, TL;DR, my neighbors have too many fucking cars and I can't wait to move at the end of the month and have MY OWN DRIVEWAY AND GARAGE.

My own garage is the greatest feel.

My wife and I moved into our first detached house on the 22nd of July. We had a small 2 stall garage at our townhouse, but have a bit of a larger garage now. Whats even nicer is we could fit 2 cars in our garage and 6-8 cars in our driveway. We have such a nice size driveway. And we're on a cul de sac.

Get this though. In my neighborhood there are probably 8 houses on our cul de sac. Of those 8 houses 3 have two cars in their 2 stall garage. One has 1 car in a 3 stall garage (WTF?). That trend is consistent throughout the neighborhood.

I'm sorry but your kid's crap isn't more important than putting your car in your garage. We took possession of our house on a monday. That monday I filled the entire left side of our garage with crap while my wife cleaned the inside of the house. We didn't move in til Wednesday night but Thursday night both cars were in our garage. Suck it neighbors who still haven't managed to get both cars in the garage!

As someone who lives in a townhouse, I disagree. How can they prevent you from parking on a public street?? We have 4 cars and one parking space, so the house owner uses the parking space and the rest of park in visitors or out on the street. Where are we supposed to park?

They can't. This is just an example from today. Some days there's the bike, and THREE cars in the driveway. All the way out to the sidewalk. And the apron to the driveway is narrower than the driveway itself. So when they have 4 vehicles in there nuts to butts, we have to drive over the grass next to the curb to get out.

Oh ok. That does suck, so they just put too many cars in the shared driveway? I used to have a driveway on a 4 lane road with a telephone pole on the end east end of it. That was annoying, people would often park in front of it blocking it, but also park so close that I couldnt turn between their car and the post to get in. I used to try to back in, but it was also problematic if someone stopped right behind you.

Sometimes people just blocked it for no reason. One time I came home there was only one car parked on the whole street, right in front of my driveway. WHY?

I got honked at a lot, and left a lot of nasty notes, sometimes other people would park in my driveway also, I would yell at them. Don't miss that! I am moving to a place with a shared driveway, I am looking forward to it!

I'm learning all the little idiosyncrasies of house-living (weed-killing, mouse-trapping, sweeping up acorns, etc.), but all in all, it's wonderful. I'm mostly settled in now. Just a couple more boxes to unpack and a new grill to assemble, so I can start to bbq out on my deck!

Yeah and on top of the other 3,000 reasons that they are shitty neighbors, the driveway is a major source of most of them.

Be prepared to learn a lot about small engine repair.

Are we talking about lawnmower engines, dishwasher motors, stuff like that?

Oh yeah, there's always something to fix. That's one of my favorite parts of home ownership.

I live in a town home complex were every unit has a 2 car garage but no driveway. For 6 months this year I had a stack of stuff in my side of the garage and had to fight for the few "Visitor" spots in side the complex or park out on the street and walk in to my unit which is almost the farthest back from the street. That is when I learned we have a neighbor a few units down that has 6 cars and no room in his garage. I got the equipment moved and now I am parking back in the garage and I don't ever plan to change that again.
